New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady period as they overcame division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson shone brightly with three touchdowns as the Patriots claimed an eight-game winning streak for the first time since iconic QB Brady's final season with the team in the 2019 season

Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a TD, completing 25 of 34 passes

Victory bolsters the Patriots advantage at the top of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after slipping to two wins and eight losses

The opposing team had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to finish the New York's initial series

But the Patriots fought back in the second period as the rookie rushed for two short rushing scores before the ball carrier hauled in a throw from Maye at the rear of the end zone in the middle of the third period to extend the lead to 21-7

"That was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be excellent."

Fields found John Metchie in the latter part of the third quarter to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a two kicks in the final period as the home side sealed the victory
