An extensive 60-day cruise around the Land Down Under was terminated following the fatal incident of an elderly female passenger who was abandoned by the ship on a distant coastal location.

The elderly woman had been walking on Lizard Island with shipmates from the Coral Adventurer, but parted ways from the party for a pause. The vessel departed without her and came back later that day after the ship staff became aware the passenger was not present.

A major hunt located her person the following day.

Investigative bodies are looking into the tragedy, alongside law enforcement and the state coroner.

Head of the cruise operator said that guests and crew on the vessel were informed that the remainder of the cruise had been cancelled due to the "sad loss and previous engine troubles".

Through an announcement, he mentioned that passengers would be given a complete reimbursement, and said the organization was working "to organize the homeward trips of the travelers via specially arranged planes".

Authorities also issued an revised communication, and said they had "delivered a order to the Commander" banning any further travelers from boarding the ship.

The spokesperson said that they would attend the ship in the port city upon its return.
